Norbar Australia Management MovesImportant structural changes to the management team at Norbar’s representative company in Australia are taking place that also affect Norbar companies in New Zealand and Singapore. Matt Packer is to become Managing Director of Norbar Torque Tools Pty, based in Adelaide, South Australia and with offices in Western Australia, Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales. He is to take over the position from his father Leigh Packer, who will remain Executive Director of the company and be able to devote more of his time to managing Norbar companies in New Zealand and Singapore.

The transition is to take place on the 1st September, and is part of a long-term succession plan within the company. It comes at a time of growth and strong financial results for Norbar throughout the region, with changes including moves to expanded premises in both Auckland New Zealand (Norbar Torque Tools (NZ) Ltd) and Singapore (Norbar Torque Tools Pte. Ltd).

Leigh Packer commented: “Over the past six years, I have had the opportunity to watch Matt develop as a Manager and Director. He has taken on many responsibilities, including hands-on operational duties. This is an exciting time for us as we look forward to the future growth of Norbar under his guidance.”

Norbar is a world leading specialist in the design, development and production of torque tightening and measuring equipment, exporting 75% of its output to markets worldwide. With its manufacturing base in Banbury, Oxfordshire, there are Norbar companies in China, India, and the USA as well as Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. The company also has a worldwide network of calibration laboratories located in the UK (accredited by UKAS), Australia (NATA), the USA (NVLAP), Singapore (SAC-SINGLAS) and China (TAF).

Matt Packer became a director of Norbar Torque Tools Pty Ltd in 2006 after completing an Engineering degree, two years of service at Norbar in the UK and a course at the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Neill Brodey, Managing Director of Norbar UK, congratulated Matt on his forthcoming appointment. “Norbar is a family run company celebrating its 70th Anniversary in 2012 and for many years the Packer family team has been a dynamic, experienced and reliable support to our business in Australasia and South East Asia. We look forward to working with Matt to progress our strong record of development in the region.”
