About Norbar, world leaders in torque equipment

Cutting edge: Norbar’s state-of-the-art factory facilities ensure we provide the very latest design, manufacturing and quality control technology to achieve the highest level of innovation and precision in the field of torque control equipment.

Family values - Descendants of the founder, Bill Brodey, still participate in the business and the company remains every bit as passionate about providing customers with the highest quality products and services as Bill was when manufacturing that first torque wrench.

Our Larger Family – Norbar is now a member of the Snap-on Incorporated family of companies and is proud to be part of a company which has beliefs, values and a vision closely aligned with those that Norbar was founded on.

Norbar is pleased to welcome the addition of Fastorq to our family of companies. Fastorq is a company created in 1981 to manufacture and market the inventions of George A. Sturtevant, a pioneer in the field of industrial bolting.  Fastorq’s innovative tools are a perfect complement to Norbar’s already extensive range of torque controlled tools and torque measurement products allowing us to offer our customers one of the widest ranges of bolting solutions and flange management products on the market.

Globally available: Norbar is the only torque equipment manufacturer to be able to offer torque tool and instrument calibration services to the original factory standard on four continents.

Stringent standards: The NATA accredited laboratory in Adelaide, South Australia, NVLAP 200596-0 accredited laboratory in Willoughby, USA, SAC-SINGLAS laboratory in Singapore and the laboratory in Shanghai accredited by TAF and CNAS all use the same equipment and procedures as the factory's UKAS accredited laboratory, so you are assured that you will always receive the same high standard of service that are Norbar’s hallmark.

Distributors: In addition to our laboratory services, most of Norbar's distributors offer repair, calibration & recalibration services. Several have calibration accreditation from their local standards organisations.

How Norbar was born – from wartime need to universal demand: Incorporated in 1943, the "North Bar Tool Company" became the first company in Britain to commercially manufacture torque wrenches. The initial demand was driven by the need for the gasket-less cylinder head of the Rolls Royce Merlin engine to be accurately tightened. Bill Brodey and his partner Ernest Thornitt obtained a licence from Britain's wartime Government to begin manufacture of torque wrenches and Norbar was born.
