Hydraulic Wrenches

Norbar Square Drive (NSD) hydraulic ratchet wrenches offer a cost efficient option to handle a wide range of bolt tightening and break-out needs.

The NSD Series employs a “patented design” which increases accuracy and reduces the number of moving parts. Our robust and lightweight aluminum body completely encloses the drive train assembly keeping the crucial lubricant inside the tool while significantly reducing the opportunity for outside elements to contaminate the inside of the tool.

The series features nine different tools with capacities ranging from 143 to 54,905 lbf.ft of torque using a 10,000 p.s.i. hydraulic pump.

  • Square drive – for use with all standard size square drive impact sockets. The square drive is easily reversible for the tightening and loosening of threaded fasteners.
  • High strength, lightweight body – made of durable, high strength, lightweight aircraft alloy giving the housing maximum strength with minimum weight.
  • Uni-body – eliminates “pinch points” and reduces side loading. Totally enclosed drive-train assembly reduces the risk of foreign objects obstructing any internal components.

  • Reaction system – this system allows for a 360° reaction rotation that is able to index in increments of 7.5 degrees creating 48 different reaction points in both directions. This reaction system is reversible which provides the user with an additional 48 different reaction points, making 96 reaction points in total.

  • Anti-reverse pawl – holds rotational wind-up forces to maintain required torque.

  • Pawl release – anti-reverse pawl release mechanism allows for manual release of the tool if “binding” occurs.

In-line hydraulic ratchet wrenches require minimum clearance while applying torque on the same plane as the nut, providing a marked improvement over square drive socket wrenches.

Our patented design breakthrough reduces the overall dimensions of the in-line ratcheting head allowing it to fit almost every application.

  • Low radial clearance – rail design allows for a very small radius on the interchangeable low profile heads.
  • In-line ratchet drive – standard head sizes from ¾” nuts across the flats. Metric and special sizes are also available. A spring retaining clip allows for quick and easy changing of the heads.
  • Precision machined – increases accuracy, durability and repeatability with reduced surface damage to the nut.

  • Uni-body – eliminates “pinch points”.

  • Reaction pad – a reaction pad built into the tool body allows the tool to react against an adjacent nut. An extension can also be available as an accessory.

  • Multi-axis porting system – allows the swivel fittings to be manually relocated from the top of the tool to the back of the tool (or vice versa) using only simple hand tools.

  • Drive pin design – the design of the drive pin helps to reduce the overall dimensions of the Hex Link Cassette head including a thinner ‘nose’ radius, allowing the tool to fit more applications.
