From March 1st 2005 all imports to the EU, and UK shipped in wooden packing will come under the implementation of the ISPM 15 international standard.
Under this directive, all overseas suppliers to the EU must comply with the directive. Failure to do so at the origin of the goods may result in fumigation being carried out upon arrival at UK ports. The costs of this additional treatment will be passed on to Norbar, and in these circumstances we would pass on the costs to the shipper.
This includes both the supply of new equipment and components; and the return of goods for repair, calibration, or samples, and any other shipments from outside the EU.
Therefore please can you ensure that any shipments to Norbar are either packaged in non wooden packaging, or alternatively packed in packaging that complies with the ISPM 15 regulations. (Please see attached sheet).
You will be able to get any additional information on the ISPM 15 regulations from your freight forwarding supplier, or from the British International Freight Association web site:- www.bifa.org
